National Portfolio Organisation (NPO)
Culture Leicestershire was awarded NPO status and funding by Arts Council England, from April 2023-2026.
NPO’s are recognised as leaders in their field, with a collective responsibility to protect and develop the country’s arts and cultural ecology. They also have a key role in helping Arts Council England deliver its “Let’s Create” strategy, which aims to nurture creativity and ensure everyone has access to high quality cultural experiences.
The additional funding that has been awarded is allowing us to develop:
- New cultural projects across Museums and Libraries co-created by local people.
- A new Community Connectors group to help us better shape our services and target local people who don’t traditionally engage
- A new Cultural Youth Forum
- The Culture to You outreach service, taking art and handling objects into people’s homes and local community hubs
- A new cultural and data strategy for the Service
