A 1620s House and Gardens Volunteer Poem
Volunteering 2023
To be a successful volunteer
There are many things to consider
Freely offering yourself, your skills and time to do something for others.
To share knowledge that you gain
With those that come to visit
Be caring to their needs and have patience with their individual demands
Their smiles and laughter that will give you the purpose to continue to achieve
Taking happy memories of their visit with them as they leave.
Remember to be flexible and be available when required
To learn from others, and you will be inspired
So do not hold back if you can be of help
Get out there and volunteer
Always be yourself and always be sincere.

1620s House and Garden volunteers bring the site to life by providing their time and skills. We have house interpreters who point out unique parts of the house as well as share their wealth of knowledge to visitors. Garden volunteers cultivate the site to ensure it is always looking its best. Planting and labelling species appropriate for the 1600s.
