Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre Social Story

The Bosworth Explorers have done some amazing things at Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre. They are a group of adult learners who embarked on a Learning for Independence course only to embed themselves in their local heritage site, adding some much to its offer!

In 2024 the final project the group worked on for the site was focused on accessibility. The learners pulled together to decide what aspects of the site would be most important to portray to potential visitors. Once this was agreed the group embarked on filming and photography days to capture their social story/accessibility film.

The work covers the entirety of Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre’s site, including the shorter walks from the Centre. The work demonstrates basic access needs such as what is the terrain like? Where do I go when I arrive? What am I allowed to touch? Are there any loud noises or dark spaces in the exhibition? We hope the film acts as a comfort to people looking to visit, removing any worries or concerns, to make the visit relaxed and informative.

You can watch the Bosworth Explorers accessibility film here.

We look forward to working with this group in future in their new home at Hinckley Library as the Hinckley Historians!

Watch this space for what they get up to next in the library.
